Components
Drexan HeatTracer offers various components types and configurations for any application in Hazardous and Ordinary Areas. For extreme ruggedness, then choose metallic components. For Class I, Division 2 approved components with aggressive pricing, then choose Heat Shrink Components. But for the best of both worlds, then choose PowerPodTM to save time and money while increasing reliability.
PowerPod™
PowerPod™
The PowerPod™ component system is a revolutionary and innovative connection system using insulation displacement technology that is designed to work with Drexan™ HeatTracer OmniTrace and PipeGuard heating cables. PowerPod™ is considered our best heat tracing component, as it offers the following:
- PowerPod™ can be installed three ways: as a Power Connection, or a Splice, or a Lighted End Seal (with optional LED light kit), simplifying installer training and material logistics.
- PowerPod™ is CSA (CUS) certified for ordinary and hazardous locations (Class I, Division 2), reducing installer training time and increasing installation quality assurance.
- PowerPod™ PC and RE Re-Enterable End Seal are re-enterable, simplifying inspection and troubleshooting in the field.
- PowerPod™ can be installed on pipe or over insulation, using the optional mounting bracket.
- PowerPod™ allows the installer to choose two power connection methods: either power cord grommets, or ¾” NPT conduit fittings which screw into the internal threads in the housing, providing field flexibility.
- PowerPod™ is totally symmetrical so either end can be used for heating cable or power connection, preventing annoying installation errors.
Heat Shrink
Drexan HeatTracer Heat Shrink component kits are designed for installation with PipeGuard™, HotTape™ and OmniTrace™ cables. They are designed to withstand high UV exposure, application temperatures up to 150°F (65°C), and can withstand peak temperatures up to 185°F (85°C).
HeatShrink components are certified for use in Non Hazardous as well as Class I, Division 2 areas and are suitable for use on metallic and non-metallic pipes, tanks, roofs and gutters. While HeatShrink components are certified to allow the use of any appropriate junction box, the HeatShrink Junction Box is a sleek, shallow, and rugged enclosure for both industrial and commercial applications.

Metallic Components
Drexan™ HeatTracer's Metallic Components are specially designed for installation with PipeGuard™ and PipeGuard™ Hot heat tracing cables. The "toughest of the tough", these component kits may be installed in ambient temperatures as low as -40 degrees F. The junction boxes are copper-free aluminum with Neoprene o-rings to meet NEMA 4 requirements. All heating cable component kits have ¾” NPT threaded hubs to ensure grounding continuity.
